About Robert Baskerville

Robert Baskerville is an experienced lawyer whose practice focuses on business law, real estate and estate planning.

Over the course of his career, Bob has practiced in a broad range of areas, from large international business transactions to local family law matters. Before opening his current office, he served as a partner with the Seattle firm of Davis Wright Tremaine, where he practiced for seventeen years as a member of the corporate department and the tax and international sections of that firm. He represented both U.S. and foreign companies, both in the U.S. and abroad.

From 1981 to 1984, Bob served as a visiting lawyer at the firm of Kim & Chang in Seoul, one of the largest in Asia, where he represented major U.S. corporations in connection with their investments in Asia.

Bob began his legal career as a legal aid lawyer, serving as the Director of Kitsap Legal Services, providing legal services to low-income clients, until he entered the private practice of law in 1979.

A lifelong resident of Seattle, Bob received his BA in Russian Language and Literature from the University of Washington in 1966. He served in the United States Information Service in the Soviet Union and in the U.S. Peace Corps in Korea before entering law school at the University of Washington in 1970. He graduated and became a member of the Washington State Bar Association in 1973.

In 1981, Bob received his LL.M. degree from the University of Washington Law School, writing his thesis on taxation of international business transactions. He served as Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Washington, where he taught international taxation from 1996 to 2000. Together with W.T. Kim of Kim & Chang, he authored in 1984, and has updated each year since then, a treatise on international taxation for the Bureau of National Affairs Tax Management series.

Bob is an experienced mediator. He has completed mediation training and advanced mediation training courses at the University of Washington School of Law. He has successfully mediated cases in diverse areas of law, including business contract claims, partnership dissolution, dissolution of marriage and real estate issues. He is available to serve as a mediator to resolve local and international disputes.
